Beim Afrika-Projekt nahmen die Schüler und Schülerinnen der Klasse 8b des Matthias-Grünewald-Gymnasiums 430,-€ ein. Anfang des Jahres hielt Steffie Beck (1. Vors.des Vereins „People of Africa“), die bereits mehrmals in Tansania weilte, eine Präsentation über Würzburgs Partnerstadt Mwanza. Dort berichtete Steffie Beck über die Lebenssituation der Menschen in Tansania und, wie sie der jungen Familie von dem Künstler Maziku half, einen Obst- und Gemüsestand aufzubauen. Zudem unterstützt der Verein „People of Africa“ die 5jährige Tochter Pili, indem die Schulgebühren bezahlt werden. Daraufhin bereitete die Klasse 8b unter der Leitung von Herrn Studiendirektor Münzhuber und Referendarin Meyerhöfer eine „Pausenaktion“ vor, in der die Schüler-/innen Kuchen und Perlenschmuck aus Tansania verkauften. Die Klasse möchte mit diesem Erlös hilfebedürftigen Menschen wie Maziku helfen und überreichte Steffie Beck 430,-€ für ihre Arbeit in Tansania. The pupils of form II of Matthias-Grünewald-secondary school took during their Africa-Project 430,-€ in cash. On the beginning of the year 2008, Steffie Beck, who travelled to Tansania several times, gave a lecture about Mwanza, the sister city of Würzburg. Steffie Beck talked about the life-situation of the people in Tanzania and the way she helped the young family of the artist Maziku to build up a vegetable stall. In addition to that the NGO „People of Africa“ supports the 5-years old daughter Pili with paying the schoolfees. Thereupon the pupils prepared under the direction of Mr. Münzhuber and Mrs. Meyerhöfer a fundraising. During the break they sold cakes and pearl necklaces. With the proceeds of that sale the class wants to assist people like Maziku and they presented Steffie Beck 430,-€ for her work in Tanzania.
